Summer Program

Join us for one week, July 14-19, 2025 for student musicians who play a string or wind instrument. Full day students will participate in marimba and music theory classes. NEW! We are offering a half day option.

Sign up for String Orchestra or Wind Ensemble:

  • Launch Strings

    ORCHESTRA LEVEL 1

    For beginner students with little or no experience on the Violin, Viola, or Cello.

    *Students must bring their own instrument.

  • Cielos Azules

    ORCHESTRA LEVEL 2

    For students with THREE or more years experience with Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass.

    *Students must bring their own instrument and submit recordings, see String Orchestra Details below.

  • Giocoso Strings

    ORCHESTRA LEVEL 3

    For students with FIVE or more years experience with Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass.

    *Students must bring their own instrument and submit recordings, see String Orchestra Details below.

  • Trade Winds

    WIND ENSEMBLE ALL LEVELS

    For beginning to advanced students on flute, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, or trumpet.

    *Students must bring their own instrument.

2024 Summer Program Details

Two Summer Sessions

  • Session 1: July 8-12, 2024

  • Session 2: July 15-19, 2024

Hours & Location

  • Monday through Friday, 9am - 4pm

  • Hooper Hall, 26 Puesta del Sol, Santa Fe, NM (former Santa Fe Waldorf School campus)

Tuition

  • $650* for one week.

  • $1200* for both weeks ($100 discount)
    *plus New Mexico tax

General Details

  • All students must bring their own instrument.

  • Program is open to elementary, middle school, and high school students.

  • 10-20 students per class depending on level.

  • Classes are led by professional musicians and educators.

  • All students will participate in chorus, music theory, and marimba classes in addition to String Orchestra or Wind Ensemble.

  • Students will be taken on a field trip to tour the SF Opera House.

  • Each week will end with spectacular performances.

  • Students must bring their own snacks and lunch.

  • Please drop your child off promptly at 9am and pick up between 3:50 and 4pm.

To Register

  • Space is limited, register today!

  • Your child will only be officially registered when the full payment is received.

  • NO refunds will be given if the child is sick or unable to come to classes for any reason.

Daily Schedule:

  • 8:50 - 9:00 Beginning of Day, drop-off

  • 9:00 - 10:00 Chorus

  • 10:00 - 11:30 String Orchestras and Wind Ensemble rehearsals

  • 11:30 - 12:15 Lunch/Recess

  • 12:15 - 1:15 String Orchestras and Wind Ensemble rehearsals

  • 1:15 - 1:30 Break

  • 1:30 - 2:15 String Orchestras and Wind Ensemble rehearsals

  • 2:15 - 3:00 Music theory/Marimba classes

  • 3:05 - 3:50 Music theory/Marimba classes

  • 3:50 - 4:00 End of Day, pick-up

String Orchestra Details

Orchestra Level 1 is for viola, violin and cello. Bass instruction is only offered in Levels 2 and 3.

Students registering for Orchestra Strings Levels 2 or 3 are asked to submit the following recordings*:

  • Two scales, one major and one minor (For Level 2, scales should be 1- or 2-octaves, 2-octaves preferred. For Level 3, scales should be 2- or 3-octaves, 3-octaves preferred).

  • Piece of their choice (any Suzuki repertoire, concertos, sonatas, etc. are acceptable)
